Brunei is in the middle of a froyo renaissance with more froyo shops than ever. A new wave of froyo shops opened after 2020. Most of the froyo shops that are open today are counter-serve and Spanish yogurt or Spanish yogurt inspired brands like Llaollao, Smooy, and Yole. Llaollao and Yole opened their first branches in Brunei in 2021 and that seems to have touched off the froyo renaissance.

October Froyo Shop Openings & Closings
It’s the time of year that froyo business slows down in North America and Europe due to colder temperatures. Not surprisingly, we found fewer froyo shop openings, 49, in October compared to 57 froyo shop openings in September. The openings occurred in 17 countries, with the Philippines leading the way, as they did in September. There were 12 froyo shop openings in the Philippines in October. Malaysia had the second-highest number of openings with five.

2023 National Frozen Yogurt Consumer Survey Results
The National Frozen Yogurt Consumer Survey was designed to measure loyalty, liking for major frozen yogurt chains, frozen yogurt preferences, current and future consumption (including what might make them visit froyo shops more often), and purchasing habits.
Closed US Airport Froyo Locations
The list of permanently closed places that offered froyo at US airports is longer than the list of 36 places that currently offer airport froyo. We found 52 places that once served airport froyo in the US.
Frozen Yogurt Shakes the Throne of Ice Cream in Turkey
Frozen yogurt has gained the admiration of a large number of loyal masses in Turkey, as it is a product that promises unlimited flavor, natural ingredients, low calories, and numerous garnish options. Iceberry Turkey, the leading company of frozen yogurt in the Turkish market, is opening its thirty-sixth branch in Düzce.
September Froyo Shop Openings & Closings
There was an uptick in froyo shop openings in September. We found 56 froyo shop openings in 21 countries in September, compared to 51 froyo shop openings in 20 countries in August. The Philippines had the most openings with fifteen, followed by the United States with seven.

We are conducting the National Frozen Yogurt Survey to better understand the US frozen yogurt market. The consumer survey includes questions about frozen yogurt consumption, preferences, and attitudes. The results of our surveys will be shared with frozen yogurt stores and others in the frozen yogurt industry. We’ll also compare this year’s results with the results from prior years to uncover trends over time.
