There was an uptick in froyo shop openings in September. We found 57 froyo shop openings in 21 countries in September, compared to 51 froyo shop openings in 20 countries in August. The Philippines had the most openings with fifteen, followed by the United States with seven.
Llaollao, the largest froyo chain in Europe and Asia, opened seven branches in September. Pinkberry opened five new shops, BLK 513 opened three, and Sour Sally opened three. Congrats to Goyurt for opening their 1ooth store in Colombia.
Sadly, we also found four froyo shop closings.

Brrzaar’s owner opted not to renew the lease after 10 years in Irvington, NY. The owner posted the following on Instagram and Facebook, “It has been my absolute joy and pleasure to have been part of your lives for the last almost decade…I wish we all had more time together, but it’s been an incredible journey the last 10 years. From idea, to concept, to realization, I put so much love in, and in turn got so much love out. For that I am ever thankful. No. 96 Front Street in Issaquah, Washington was the rebranded Yum-E-Yogurt. New owners took over in 2022 and expanded the menu to include salads, sandwiches, pastries, and more. They also kept the frozen yogurt. The owners posted the following on Instagram, “We are permanently closing No 96, and we will be reopening in the October timeframe; however, we will not be coming back as a cafe. We will be introducing you to our restaurant…Since we purchased the cafe in 2022, the cost of yogurt and yogurt-related supplies has increased by 40 – 70%. What this meant for us was significant losses each month. While you all supported us and were patient about the ten-year-old machines breaking down fairly often, it just doesn’t make sense – financially or otherwise – for us to continue to try to make No. 96 a viable business. We know this news will be sad for some of you, and we hope that you will visit our restaurant once we reopen.”
