IFYA Turns Eleven

Our anniversary is also the perfect time for a mid-year check-in for the frozen yogurt industry. The good news is that the number of frozen yogurt shops worldwide is steadily increasing. We found 346 new froyo shops that opened in the first half of the year (i.e., January – June 2024), compared to 307 new shops for the same period in 2023. This represents an increase of 12.7%. The Philippines had the most froyo shop openings out of all countries this year.

Yoga-urt Opens in Granada Hills, Earns Three Swirls from IFYA

All Yoga-urt locations have earned three swirls from our Swirl of Honor program, based on an assessment of frozen yogurt quality, store cleanliness, superior customer service, and environmentally friendly business practices.

Froyo in India

There are too many froyo shops in India to cover the entire history of froyo in India. However, we do know that Cocoberry, established in 2009, claims to be the first frozen yogurt brand in India. It is counter-serve. Yogurtbay was another early home-grown froyo chain, opening its first shop in Mumbai in 2011. Cocoberry still has fourteen outlets in India. Yogurtbay, which was also counter-serve, added Wafflebay and went quiet in 2018.
