Here’s a look at the flavors that are making waves in the frozen dessert scene.
2024 Froyo Openings by Country
In 2024, we found 680 new businesses that serve froyo in 55 countries. The most openings occurred in Asia, which accounted for 54% of the new openings, followed by North America with 21%, and Europe with 10%. Here’s the breakdown by country.
December Froyo Shop Openings and Closings
In December 2024, we found 53 new businesses serving froyo representing 24 countries. This was very similar to November 2024, when we found 52 new froyo businesses in 22 countries. The most openings occurred in Australia, with eleven, which isn’t surprising considering that the Australian summer runs from December to February. Indonesia had the second most openings, with six, followed by the Philippines with five.
The Year in Froyo Review, 2024 Edition
For our last post of the year, we look at what happened in the frozen yogurt industry. To measure growth, we looked at froyo shop openings worldwide, froyo chain location counts, new froyo shops in California, and new froyo trucks and trailers. Froyo Chain Location Count & Largest Froyo Chains in 2024
It’s that time for the tale of the tape, our annual froyo chain location count. We’ll reveal the largest froyo chains in the world, how many locations they currently have, and how much they shrank or grew compared to this time last year. The big news is that Llaollao is now the largest frozen yogurt chain in the world. Menchie’s was the largest froyo chain in the world for many years, but Llaollao’s growth propelled it to the top spot.
New Froyo Flavors & Flavor Trends of 2024
We’ve been tracking new froyo flavors all year and looking for flavor trends as well. This year we found 53 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors introduced by froyo chains. Last year, we found 69 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors.
New Froyo Trucks & Trailers in 2024
This year, we found ten new mobile froyo trucks and trailers, far less than the seventeen from last year. The US led the way, with six new froyo trucks and trailers. Australia, Colombia, the Philippines, and Spain had one new truck or trailer each. In 2023, we found seven new froyo trucks and trailers in the US, taking the top spot for most new froyo trucks or trailers last year.
Celebrate the Holidays with Yogurtland’s 12 Days of Froyo & Unwrap a Mystery Reward Each Day
Yogurtland has a new promotion that offers sweet ways for guests to count down the holiday season and welcome the New Year. Starting tomorrow, December 11 through December 22, Real Rewards members can swirl into the merriest time of the year with 12 Days of Froyo. During the 12 days, Yogurtland guests will instantly unwrap a mystery reward each day when they visit in-store or order online.
November Froyo Shop Openings and Closings
In November, we found 50 new froyo shops in 20 countries, compared to 74 new froyo shops in 23 countries in October. The most openings occurred in the US and Australia, with eight a piece, followed by Indonesia with seven. Sour Sally in Indonesia had the most openings with four, followed by South Korea’s Yogurt World with three. Llaollao only opened one new shop in November.
