Embracing AI: Transforming Frozen Yogurt Shops for the Future

The frozen yogurt industry relies on creativity, customization, and customer satisfaction to stay relevant. With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), shop owners now have powerful tools to enhance their operations, improve customer experiences, and improve the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. The best part is that any froyo shop can benefit from AI tools. Some of these tools are free. Here are some practical ways frozen yogurt shops can leverage AI, backed by real-world examples.

The New Zealand Real Fruit Ice Cream/Froyo Trend

In New Zealand, real fruit ice cream is often found at the beach, farmers market, or fruit farm. Customers choose a base and the mix-ins, typically fruit and hokey pokey, that they’d like. The trend has also spread beyond New Zealand, with businesses in other countries adopting the concept and introducing their own versions of real fruit ice cream. It is particularly popular in the United States, where it’s been transformed to include sugary toppings.

March Froyo Openings and Closings

Froyo activity in March followed a similar pattern to what we saw in February. We found 55 new froyo businesses in 19 countries in March, compared to 50 new froyo businesses in 24 countries in February. The Philippines had the most openings with fourteen, followed by the United States with eight, and Indonesia with six. The Philippines also had the most openings in February, with the US and Indonesia tying for second place.

Creative Froyo Toppings, 2025 Edition

Now that we’ve covered the creative new froyo flavors that we found, we also need to share our list of creative froyo toppings. Two froyo shops, Top It Yogurt Shoppe in Snohomish, WA, US, and Yo-Chi in Australia, made the list in 2024 and 2025. Six countries are represented and the Philippines led the way with three of the ten creative toppings. Seven of the ten toppings come from Asia.

Froyo in Iran: History, Trends, & Shops

We believe that there are seven froyo shops open in Iran. That’s very few considering the population size in the largest cities and their fondness for yogurt. Most of these frozen yogurt shops opened between 2016 – 2018, and most are self-serve. We found ten closed froyo shops, including four Yogoberry locations. Yogoberry is the only multinational froyo chain that has opened in Iran.
