October 2020 Froyo Shop Openings and Closings

Source: Yogurberry Australia

It’s the time of year when many froyo shops are closing for the season. Hoping most of those are temporary closures! Temporary closures aren’t tracked on our list.

Here’s the list of froyo shop openings and closings for October 2020. With the exception of Frowie in Mexico and Sweet Susie’s in Branson, MO, all the openings were additional locations of existing froyo and non-froyo shops. JCO and llaollao continue to expand rapidly. Sadly, the original Yogurtland, zoeyogurt in Seattle (Swirl of Honor shop), and a 31 year old TCBY were among the closures.

Fortunately for Branson, MO, when CherryBerry closed, Sweet Susie’s took over with little down time. The new owners posted the following on FB: “Welcome to Sweet Susie’s Frozen Treats! Susie Buentello and her husband, Hugo enjoy coming to Branson to visit their oldest son, Cesar, his wife Jessica, and their daughter Khloe (aka: Hugo and Susie’s first grandbaby!) One of their favorite stops to visit with Khloe and all of their children was CherryBerry Branson. When Susie heard that CherryBerry was up for sale, she couldn’t bear the thought of not getting to visit her favorite frozen yogurt spot for years to come. Through much prayer, discussion, meditation on The Word and God’s divine alignment, in October 2020, Hugo and Susie purchased the old CherryBerry Location and Sweet Susie’s was born. We are 100% family owned and operated. With Cesar managing the shop, Hugo and Susie’s other kids, Samantha, Carolina and Hector helping out in the shop and Khloe greeting everyone that enters through the door, you are sure to have a great time! We pray that everyone that enters Sweet Susie’s Frozen Treats will get to create beautiful memories over some frozen yogurt, treats and fellowship just as our family has. We look forward to seeing you all soon!”

That’s how long zoeyogurt has been open at Green Lake. We’ve had our share of ups and downs—lines out the door and days when we didn’t even cover our labor costs. We learned A LOT! About life and business. 2020, for us like for many people, has been a year of reckoning. Our lease would be up in June, and a new tenant wants our space. So, we’ve decided it’s time to close our doors and turn off the flow of creamy, delicious frozen yogurt. We will miss the friendly faces of customers and great kids we’ve employed over the years! We will miss the froyo! We’re proud of what we added to the Green Lake Community and the jobs we provided for many-a-young person (oftentimes their first job) over the past almost 10 years. Green Lake is a great community and we loved being a part of it!”
