Summer is fast approaching and more froyo shops are opening. We found 32 openings in May, about the same as in April. Surprisingly, the most openings occurred in the US, with eight, though one was a rebrand and another was a froyo shop taking over another froyo shop’s space. Spain had the second highest number of new openings with five, including a new froyo truck and Anita Gelato’s first branch in Spain. And Pinkberry opened its first location in Gabon.

Menchie’s Temecula, CA opened in 2014 at Redhawk Towne Center. The ownership changed in 2017. The owners announced the permanent closure in May 2021. On Instagram, they posted, “It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our community. We have been forced to close due to the financial impact of COVID and lack of support from our landlord Kimco. It was a privilege to serve you all over the past 4 years. Please support local businesses and our friends @menchiesmurrieta.”
