With the warmer weather, we’ve also seen an uptick in new froyo shop openings. In March, we found 39 new froyo shops in 11 countries (compared to 20 new openings in February and 31 new openings in January 2022). The US led the way again, with thirteen openings, followed by Malaysia with seven and Indonesia with five. However, most of the openings were in Asia with 15, followed by North America with twelve.
Llaollao, the largest froyo chain in Europe and Asia, continued their streak of monthly openings, with two new shops in March.
Sadly, we also found four froyo shop closings.

Yo Mama! of Brookfield, Wisconsin closed on March 19. The owners posted the following message on Instagram, “After 10 years of serving up smiles, laughter, and froyo to our friends in Brookfield and surrounding areas, we have decided not to extend our lease at the Ruby Isle location in Brookfield. Our last day of business will be Saturday, March 19th. While it has been an extremely tough decision to make, we are excited for what’s to come! We will still have our Wauwatosa location open for you to visit and we will be making many new improvements over the next year to serve you better. But what’s even more exciting is that our family and friends @scratchicecreammke will be moving into Brookfield Ruby Isle!! Details coming soon, but follow their page for updates.
