Frozen Yogurt Shops Give Back to Worthy Causes

It’s National Frozen Yogurt Month and the IFYA wanted to take the time to recognize the frozen yogurt industry for its contributions to charities and worthy causes. We know that frozen yogurt shops large and small have given back to their communities, by sponsoring kid’s sports teams, holding school fundraisers, etc. We applaud everyone in the frozen yogurt industry that has given back to others.

Key examples of giving back include:

FroYo 5K: This new 15 city fun run that raises funds for local charities like the Mommy & Me Cancer Foundation, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. For upcoming dates and additional information, visit froyo5k.com.

Menchie’s: Menchie’s was quick to respond to the earthquake in Nepal, donating 10% of sales on May 1, 2015 to the American Red Cross. The company raised $234,307 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by selling pin-ups and rewarding donors with a 15% off coupon. In 2014, Menchie’s raised over $350,000 for Make-A-Wish; the funds were used to grant the wishes of kids with life-threatening medical conditions. In Canada Menchie’s raised funds for MusiCounts, a music education charity.

Orange Leaf: OL has partnered with Share Our Strength since 2013 to raise funds for the No Kid Hungry campaign for several years. In 2013 and 2014, they donated a portion of the proceeds of their limited edition Go Orange cups.

Pinkberry: Pinkberry had a end of 2014 charitable campaign called Caring For Those Who Care For Others. Pinkberry team members visited local community organizations (e.g., fire departments, hospitals) gifting Pinkberry cards. Pinkberry donated a portion of its sales of the Apple Pie a la Mode to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. Customers could also donate at Pinkberry and show their support with a personalized pinup to be displayed on the in store giving tree.

sweetFrog: This June, sweetFrog will be raising funds to send kids fighting muscular dystrophy to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Summer Camp program. In March, they raised funds for the March of Dimes as part of the Bananas for Babies campaign. Local sweetFrog locations sponsor Little League teams and support the Girl Scouts of America.

Tutti Frutti: Tutti Frutti’s Real Green Project donates 10% of the profit from their soy bean frozen yogurt to feed children in need through Nutrition & Education International. TF has supported Winnipeg Harvest Inc., Compassion House Foundation, Edmonton Humane Society, Canadian Red Cross and many other organizations.

Yogen Fruz: Yogen Fruz has supported many charities, including the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Colon Cancer Canada, Sick Kids Foundation, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, United Way and more.

Yogurtland: Yogurtland raised funds for First Book (an education charity that provides books to kids), donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, and is currently raising funds for local children’s hospitals by selling pinups which can be personalized and are displayed in stores.
