Froyo activity is definitely picking up, with more froyo shop openings in April than in any of the previous months of 2023. We found 57 new froyo shops in 21 countries in April, compared to 41 openings in 14 countries in March. Malaysia and Indonesia led the way with 11 new shops each while Italy had six new shops.
Not surprisingly, llaollao had the most openings, with seven. The new branches are in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. J.CO had a very strong month with five new openings in Indonesia and Malaysia. Fifteen-year-old brand, Sour Sally, opened three new branches in Indonesia. Yogurt Factory opened its first branch in Morocco.
Sadly, we also found six froyo shop closings. However, two of the six have reopened as new businesses that still serve froyo.
