A Look at Froyo Search Trends for National Frozen Yogurt Month 2023

It’s time for our annual National Frozen Yogurt Month feature, where we take a closer look at interest in frozen yogurt, according to Google Trends. Google Trends allows users to analyze search trends on Google, making it easy to look at search volume trends over time and by geographic region.

Google is the dominant search engine worldwide, with a market share of 93%. In the US, Google has a market share of 89%, followed by Bing with 6%. Worldwide, Google’s market share is 93%, meaning that Google accounts for 93% of all online searches using search engines.

We looked at search trends over the past five years in the United States and worldwide. The pattern of interest shows a distinctly seasonal pattern; search traffic for frozen yogurt is lowest in December and highest in June and July. Frozen yogurt consumption is typically highest in the summer months.

Worldwide interest in frozen yogurt as measured by search traffic on Google over the last five years, peaked in early July 2018 at 100 (100 represents peak popularity), declined slightly to 94 in July 2019, fell to 78 in July 2020, recovered to 88 in July 2021, and declined to 77 in July 2022.

In the United States, the search traffic for the term frozen yogurt peaked in early July 2018 when looking at the last five years of search traffic. The next largest peak in July 2019 was not much smaller (98 in July 2018 vs. 92 in July 2019, with 100 representing peak popularity for the term). However, the popularity of frozen yogurt dropped to 76 in July 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, recovering to 94 in July 2021 and falling to 87 in July 2022.

These search traffic patterns show a stronger post-pandemic recovery of interest in frozen yogurt in the US compared to worldwide.

New Zealand. Lebanon and New Zealand replaced Greece and Norway in the top five, with the top three countries remaining the same as in the previous period of June 2021 – June 2022. The top queries of people who searched for frozen yogurt in the last 12 months (worldwide) were 1. Yogurt near me, 2. Frozen yogurt near me, 3. Yogurt ice cream, 4. Frozen yogurt ice cream, 5.
