Jom Cha Malaysia
January was a slower month for froyo shop openings. We found 40 new froyo shops in 16 countries, compared to 54 new froyo businesses in 24 countries in December 2024. The United States had the most openings with five, followed by the Philippines, and South Korea with four new openings a piece. In December, Australia had the most openings with twelve, followed by Indonesia with six, and the Philippines with five.
Yogurt World opened four new shops in South Korea, and Go Greek opened three in Saudi Arabia. Llaollao opened one new branch in the Philippines.
We were surprised to find thirteen froyo shop closings in January, including two shops that were destroyed in the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades, California, two Menchie’s, one SweetFrog, and one Peachwave.

Ziggy’s Frozen Yogurt in Taos, NM, has closed. The shop opened in 2017. In 2019, a local non-profit, DreamTree Project, purchased Ziggy’s turned it into a place for workforce training and life skills development for underprivileged youth. The shop proceeds also helped fund other programs for underprivileged youth.
