Calabasas, CA – Ben & Jerry’s Waffle Lotta Good was a two-week scoop shop social activism program launched on October 3, 2023. Fans were encouraged to help Ben & Jerry’s do a ‘Waffle Lotta Good’ by purchasing a waffle cone with Waffle Lotta Good cone wrappers at local scoop shops. Frozen Solutions provided custom cone wrappers for the inaugural scoop shop program.
For every waffle cone that fans purchased in a Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop from October 3 to 17, Ben & Jerry’s donated $1 to this year’s recipient, Advancement Project. Advancement Project is a long-standing partner of Ben & Jerry’s, working together to promote racial justice and reform the criminal legal system. The initiative raised $100,000 for Advancement Project, to support their work to end systemic racism and ensure a just and equitable future for everyone.
Having custom cone wrappers was an important part of the Waffle Lotta Good campaign for several reasons. First, the custom Waffle Lotta Good cone wrappers provided a visual reminder of doing good, one that could easily be recognized by fans at the point of purchase and in shared images and videos. Seeing the Waffle Lotta Good signs and branded cone wrappers encouraged fans to purchase cones. Second, the cone wrappers were informative. The QR code on the cone sleeve provided a link to the Waffle Lotta Good microsite which provided additional details of the campaign and encouraged fans to sign up to join Advancement Project. Third, the cone wrappers had a functional benefit for fans and Scoop Shops, by protecting cones from contamination and protecting hands from ice cream drips.
When Ben & Jerry’s learned their preferred partner for cone wrappers had a minimum order size of 750,000 units, they realized they needed to find another vendor. Frozen Solutions was able to meet Ben & Jerry’s requirements and provide 250,000 custom cone wrappers for the Waffle Lotta Good program.
Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops are independently owned and operated and their franchisees give back to their communities all year round, from fundraising to providing loads of free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to community groups and events.
