With Ukraine in the news, we decided to investigate their frozen yogurt scene. There were 44.13 million residents in 2020 and the three largest cities were Kyiv (2.9 million), Kharkiv (1.4 million), and Odessa (1 million).

The first froyo shop to open in Ukraine appears to have been the Italian chain, Yogorino, in 2012. They were followed by a home-grown, Italian style froyo concept called Frogurtino. Based on number of pictures posted on Instagram, 2014 seemed to be the peak of froyo in Ukraine. Italian style froyo dominated the scene.

International froyo chain Tutti Frutti brought self-serve froyo to Ukraine around late 2017. Later, Tutti Frutti Ukraine changed to a new brand called Summer Love in 2020.

It looks like you can get froyo at Ukrainian grocery stores. RUD produces frozen yogurt novelties.

There aren’t many froyo shops and we can’t imagine what they’re going through now. We hope that they survive the war. We heard from Yogorino in Kiev and they’re hanging in there.
