Bahrain, the island country in the Persian Gulf east of Saudi Arabia, has a population of 1.702 million. It has a subtropical climate and sandy deserts. And yes, you can find froyo there – lots of froyo. According to our research, froyo first appeared around 2011.

Several froyo shops opened in 2011. Bahrain was relatively late to adopt froyo. By 2011, froyo shops had opened throughout the Middle East. Since 2011, there have been a mix of home grown and international froyo chain shops in Bahrain. Several international froyo chains set up shop in Bahrain, including Fresh Berry, Pinkberry, Menchie’s, TCBY, Tutti Frutti, and Yogorino. Purple Swirl, started by a Bahraini entrepreneur, was the first locally developed self-serve froyo shop. There are a handful of froyo trucks. Non-froyo shops also serve froyo. Most of the froyo shops have been counter serve.

Froyo has done well. Many of the froyo shops that started in 2011 in Bahrain are still open.

In Bahrain, froyo shops commonly offer froyo, pancakes, waffles, crepes, and drinks. It’s common to cover pancakes and waffles in thick, sweet sauces like Nutella and pistachio sauce. Popular local froyo flavors include pomegranate, saffron, mango, pistachio, Lotus, Nutella, and dates.

We’ve compiled an alphabetical list of the shops that serve froyo in Bahrain. It includes shops that have closed.
