Froyo Gives Back, 2020 Edition

Source: Orange Leaf

Happy National Frozen Yogurt Month! Every June, we like to take the time to recognize frozen yogurt shops who show they care by giving back to others. First, let’s have a round of applause for owners of these froyo shops that have helped raise funds and donations for worthy causes, sponsored non-profit cause related events, offered free or discounted froyo to law enforcement, teachers, veterans, nurses, etc. We won’t be able to mention every shop that is deserving of recognition, but we appreciate every shop that has helped others.

This has been an unusual year. As tough as things have been, we have seen many instances of frozen yogurt shops helping medical personnel, students, teachers, frontline workers (e.g., grocery store employees), law enforcement, etc. with discounts and donations. Thank you!!!

Here are a few examples of giving back that we wanted to highlight:

Berry Twist of Floyd Knobs, Indiana donated over 1,200 cups of froyo to support the local community, including nursing homes, during the coronavirus pandemic.

Blitzer’s! Premium Frozen Yogurt (Murrieta & Menifee, CA) gave $5 in Blitzer Bucks to healthcare workers, grocery or retail workers, EMS professionals, military personnel, and anyone else working on the front lines during the COVID-19 crisis. Both Blitzer’s shops are Swirl of Honor member shops.

Eat’N’Go, master franchisee for Domino’s Pizza, Cold Stone Creamery and Pinkberry in Nigeria, committed to providing food to essential workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 battle. Eat’N’Go restaurants have fed people at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Yaba Centre, Oyo state ministry of health and police stations throughout the country.

Menchie’s of Arkansas (IG: @menchiespromenadechenal) launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to donate froyo during the pandemic. So far, they’ve raised enough to deliver 1,500 cups of froyo to local medical personnel and the Little Rock Air Force Base.

Orange Leaf partnered with No Kid Hungry for the seventh consecutive year to fight childhood hunger. Last September, Orange Leaf guests who donated $1 or more received a coupon for a free cup of froyo. During the first six years of the partnership, Orange Leaf raised over 1 million meals for children fighting hunger.

Yoga-urt (Glendale & Los Angeles, CA) set up a GoFundMe campaign to collect donations to send plant-based froyo pints & bowls to medical teams in Los Angeles. Later, Yoga-urt joined Support + Feed, the initiative created by Billie Eilish’s mom which partners with vegan restaurants in LA and NY to help feed first responders, hospitals, senior centers and others. Both Yoga-urt shops are Swirl of Honor member shops.

Yogurtland has been busy donating froyo to teachers, healthcare workers and other everyday heroes. They also surprised regular folks with froyo deliveries. And they encouraged others to do the same with their #FroyoItForward campaign.
