Since 2016, we’ve been highlighting some of the creative froyo flavors froyo shops around the world have created with annual lists of creative froyo flavors. And we’re excited to share our 2020 list of creative froyo flavors.

Beet It Fro-No from Red Mango in the US is a vegan, gluten free, probiotic soft serve made with fruits and vegetables. Vegetable flavors are rarely found in froyo shops, so this was a bold flavor move. Beet It was introduced along with Cool as a Cucumber Fro-No in 2019.

Golden Egg Tart from Yo Mama Frozen Yogurt (@yomamafroyohk), Hong Kong, was just introduced as this year’s new Easter-inspired froyo flavor, along with a special gooey caramel sauce. We love how the flavor is so appropriate for Easter (eggs) and Hong Kong (egg tarts). Yo Mama is the first froyo shop in Hong Kong and their goal is to serve the world’s best frozen yogurt.

Knafeh from Dairee in Australia (@d_a_i_r_e_e) was created for Ramadan. You can get it topped with knafeh crumbs and sugar syrup. Knafeh is a beloved Middle Eastern dessert, typically made with shredded phyllo dough (crunchy noodles) and creamy cheese that’s soaked in rosewater or orange blossom sugar syrup and topped with crushed pistachios.

Lychee Rose from Sogurt (@sogurtsg) combines two relatively uncommon flavors into a new flavor that must be refreshing and fragrant. Sogurt was founded in 2010 and they brought self-serve froyo to Singapore.

PaPaYa Tamed Chipotle from YaYa Best Tex Mex Yogurt in Dallas, Texas is described as “a fun blend of Honey Hill California Tart and Perfect Puree Papaya and Perfect Puree Chipotle Sour. In addition, we add some Molina Vanilla, Monin Almond and spice to make the flavor interesting to the taste bud.” They have another spicy flavor, Jalapeno. YaYa was known for its creative Tex Mex inspired froyo flavors. Sadly, YaYa has closed for good.

Persian Delight from Yo-Chi in Australia (@iloveyochi) is described as “blossom magic made with Persian rose water.” It sounds mysterious – wonder if it’s like Turkish delight?

Ricotta Mi from Pick in Kuwait (@pick_kuwait) is a new flavor made with nonfat ricotta cheese. It’s served with their house orange peel jam and in float form with acai, raspberry, five berries or mango sauce. Their all natural, nonfat froyo, PICK YO, is made daily in their kitchen using their own recipes and fresh local yogurt. We also want to try Kulfi Mi froyo, made with cardamom, saffron, rosewater, and roasted pistachio to make a froyo version of the Indian frozen dessert, kulfi.

Smarties from Menchie’s Canada is made with Smarties, milk chocolate candies covered in a crisp sugar shell made in Canada by Nestle. The candy was originally manufactured by Rowntree in the UK. Smarties are only available in the US via import.

Spiced Pumpkin from Goje in Yarraville, Australia, is different because it’s plant-based and made with housemade pepita milk. All of Goje’s products are plant-based, cruelty free, made from scratch and made with organic ingredients where possible.

No list of creative froyo flavors would be complete without Eb & Bean (Portland, Oregon). Strawberry Vanilla Rose is a non-dairy, organic, coconut soft serve that they introduced last year. Some of their other flavors include Brown Sugar Strawberry Ricotta and Guava Lime (non-dairy coconut).

Turkish Delight from Marcel’s Frozen Yoghurt (@marcels_za), South Africa, is described as “the gentle flavours of rosewater and powdered sugar that characterise the classic candy.” South Africa’s first frozen yogurt was launched 32 years ago and they’re still innovating. Tubs of Turkish Delight frozen yoghurt come with dark chocolate pieces. Marcel’s frozen yoghurt is made with real dairy infused with live probiotic cultures and contains only natural or nature-identical flavors.

All of these creative froyo flavors sound delicious!
