A Look at Home Grown International Froyo Chains: Brazil, Chile, The Netherlands, Singapore

Yoghurt Barn, The Netherlands

Our series on international frozen yogurt chains continues. In this installment, we look at the leading home-grown frozen yogurt chains in Brazil, Chile, The Netherlands, and Singapore.

Brazil

Yogoberry was founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 by two South Korean sisters who were naturalized Brazilians. By 2012, Yogoberry had over 100 shops in Brazil and international locations. We could not view their website, so it’s unclear how many locations remain open. Google Places shows that 14 locations are in Brazil.

Chile

Yogurt Life opened its first store in Chile in January 2009. Today, it has 19 locations. The concept is self-serve and the emphasis is on health and quality. The store design, signs, and even some of the flavors bear a striking resemblance to Yogurtland.

The Netherlands

The founders of Yoghurt Barn wanted to bring frozen yogurt to the Netherlands. Yoghurt Barn was born in 2011. As the Dutch eat more yogurt than any other country, they expanded their product line to include 7 types of organic yogurt, baked goods, coffee, tea, toast, and overnight oats. There are now 11 locations and a food truck. They published a cookbook called Yoghurt Barn in 2017.

Singapore

Yolé was launched in 2017 when llaollao’s master franchisee in Singapore, D+1 Holding, had a disagreement with llaollao. Llaollao’s 29 Singapore locations became Yolé. Yolé sources its ingredients from Spain and Italy and offers more flavors than llaollao.
