Tips for Creating Your Custom Cup Design

Sure a plain cup will do the job of holding frozen yogurt, but a custom printed cup provides the opportunity to build brand awareness, generate brand impressions and reinforce the image of your frozen yogurt shop.

Most frozen yogurt shops that have custom cups choose a simple design that features their logo on one side of the white cup. It’s a simple design but your cups could be more distinctive to create a greater impression.

Coming Up With Your Design Inspiration

Once you decide to go with custom cups, your next step is to come up with a design. It’s your chance to be creative. Make sure that your design inspiration is well researched and thought out. Think back to the inspiration for your store design and let that guide the design of your cup. The cups should look cohesive with your store’s brand and identity. Let the voice of your cup design reflect what you want your store to say.

Choosing Colors

The most successful designs stick to a cohesive color palette. Try not to go crazy with range of colors you decide to use. Choosing analogous or complementary colors will make your design easier to look at, and help communicate a certain mood. For example, red, orange, and yellow are analogous colors (they sit next to each other on the color wheel). When used together in a design, it might help evoke a happy, fresh feeling.

Choose a distinctive color that complements your logo or that uses your logo’s colors. Although bold colors stand out, they don’t make sense if your logo’s colors are muted. If your store emphasizes being eco-friendly, you may decide to use natural looking colors.

Use Space Wisely

Use the space on your cups wisely, make your logo large enough that it will stand out, but not so big that it runs off the edge of your cup, or overwhelms the design. Above all, your logo should be the focus of your design.

Remember that negative space has an important purpose in design. Make sure that the cup isn’t over-crowded or confusing.
