Hong Kong style puffle cones or Hong Kong egg waffle cones have gained popularity outside Hong Kong. The waffles are made in a special waffle iron. You can get your froyo with a Hong Kong egg waffle cone at Yogurty’s in Canada, Yogen Fruz (select locations in Canada & the US), Pinkberry Toronto, GRK YGRT in Toronto, Tutti Frutti Canada, Yo-Chi and Tutto in Australia, Iceberry in Russia, Romeo & Julia in Germany, Lemonberry in Strongsville, Ohio, Maccha Stir Yogurt in Duluth, GA, Pearls n Swirls in Fairfield, CT, Fruttino in Granada Hills, CA, Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt in Dublin, CA and in the mother country, Hong Kong, at HK Triple Milk.

Chimney cakes or cones (aka doughnut cones) are baked cinnamon sugar cones that can be filled with froyo or ice cream. They’re a Hungarian/Czech/Transylvanian treat. The cones are hollow and cylindrical with a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior. Traditionally, the cones were roasted over charcoal and basted with butter. In Toronto, Chimney Stax fills their chimney cones with Yogurty’s froyo.

Le Blueboy in Montreal makes churros and a cone called Le Churro Cup.

Taiyaki cones are fish shaped waffles inspired by the Japanese waffle, taiyaki. Soft serve ice cream or froyo is piped into the open mouth of the taiyaki fish. The concept was popularized by Café Aboong in Asia and Taiyaki NYC in New York. The taiyaki are freshly made on special waffle irons.
