The United States had the most openings in 2025 with 100, with the Philippines close behind with 99, and Australia in third with 74 openings, and Indonesia in fourth with 49 openings. In 2024, the Philippines had the most openings with 123 openings, followed by the United States with 94, Indonesia with 74, and Australia with 56.
We also recently revealed the largest froyo chains in the world as measured by the number of locations. Yoajung in South Korea held onto its position as the world’s largest froyo chain. After adding 120 new locations in 2025, Yoajung now operates 684 shops, the vast majority in South Korea. Yogen Fruz climbed into the No. 2 spot, with Llaollao following in third.
Together, the top 10 froyo chains now operate approximately 2,821 locations, marking a 24% increase (554 additional shops) compared to 2024. Remarkably, most chains in the top 10 expanded this year — a trend we haven’t seen in quite some time.
Goyurt entered the top 10 for the first time, while Yogorino dropped out of the rankings.
We identified twelve new froyo trucks and trailers that launched in 2025, compared to twelve new mobile froyo businesses in 2024 (and 17 in 2023). The US had the most mobile froyo openings with eight in 2025. It also had the most openings in 2024, with seven.
This year, we found 88 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors introduced by froyo shops. Last year, we found 53 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors. While this is quite a jump in new flavors, the increase is mostly due to the addition of MYKA Greek, which introduced two new flavors a month in 2025. Without considering MKYA, we found 63 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors in 2025.
MYKA had the most new flavor introductions with 24. Menchie’s was second with twelve. In 2024, Menchie’s and 16 Handles had the most new flavor introductions, with nine.
This year marked significant global expansion for froyo, surpassing the reach we saw in 2024. We look forward to watching how the category evolves in the coming year.
