For our last post of the year, we look at what happened in the frozen yogurt industry. To measure growth, we looked at froyo shop openings worldwide, froyo chain location counts, new froyo shops in California, and new froyo trucks and trailers. We also tracked new froyo flavors and flavor trends. And we summarize IFYA news and froyo press releases.
New Froyo Flavors & Flavor Trends of 2024
We’ve been tracking new froyo flavors all year and looking for flavor trends as well. This year we found 53 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors introduced by froyo chains. Last year, we found 69 new froyo and froyo alternative flavors.
Summer 2024 Froyo Flavors and Trends
Fruit flavors once again were the most popular this summer. Of the 14 new flavors that we found this summer, 57% were fruit flavors, followed by chocolate, which was present in 14% of the new flavors. Last summer, we found twenty new flavors, 85% were fruit flavors, 10% chocolate, and 5% cake.

New Froyo Flavors and Trends of 2023
In 2023, new frozen yogurt flavors accounted for 61% of all new 2023 flavors (compared to 67% in 2022, 58% in 2021, and 50% in 2020). We’ve seen a shift towards offering more new froyo flavors and a shift towards dairy-based flavors at froyo shops.
