We found 20 froyo shop openings in August (vs. 27 in July) and 7 closings. The US led the way with 4 openings, followed by the UK (2), Ecuador (2), and Mexico (2). There were openings in 14 countries in August. Llaollao, Europe’s largest froyo chain, continued to open new branches with two openings this month. Pinkberry opened their first branch in Iraq.
Sadly, several decade-old froyo shops closed for good this month.

As you all know we are a small family business, not a franchise. It is run by myself (Sheena) and husband Rudy. During the pandemic we were forced to go back to work full-time and have been trying to manage to do both work and run the business. In the end it became way too much for us and our family. TJ’s announced plans to close after 10 years in business. The owners wrote, “It is with a sad heart we announce that TJ’s is closing. Our last day is August 8th. YoBerry closed in Genesee Valley Plaza in Geneseo, NY on August 16, after 8 years of business. “We are now closing because of the pandemic,” said Mirac Karakus, co-owner of the YoBerry Frozen Yogurt Bar. They hope to reopen at a new location.
