The United States once again had the most openings, with 34, compared to 31 in August, with South Florida and NYC continuing to be froyo hot spots. Australia and Indonesia tied for 2nd place with nine openings each.
September brought several notable international firsts. MYKA Hong Kong is MYKA’s first branch in Asia. Smooy and Yoajung opened their first outlets in the Philippines.
Among chains, Sour Sally had the most openings with four, followed by Yoajung and Yogen Fruz with three each.
We also tracked froyo shop closures in September and found 13 closures. Yole exited Brunei. Zack’s Famous Frozen Yogurt closed after 39 years in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
