Of this year’s new summer flavors, 64% were froyo flavors, 29% sorbet, and 7% vegan made with alternative milks. Last summer, nine of the 20 flavors were froyo (45%), followed by 6 sorbets, 2 non-dairy alternatives, 2 Italian ices, and 1 ice cream.
TCBY and 16 Handles had the most new flavors, with three, followed by Menchie’s with two and SweetFrog with two. Surprisingly, Yogurtland only introduced one new froyo flavor during the summer. 16 Handles had the most intriguing new flavor, a savory froyo with real French fry pieces called French Fry froyo. 16 Handles also had the most on-trend flavor, with Fire Ball (fiercely cinnamon) froyo. Spicy-sweet flavors were supposed to be the trend of the summer.
