Barbie Land Berry Pink froyo at Pinkberry
Summer brought more new fruit flavors to froyo shops in 2023. Berries were the most popular fruit flavor by far, followed by lemonade. Of the twenty new flavors that we found, 85% were fruit flavors, 10% chocolate, and 5% cake. Nine of the 20 flavors were froyo (45%), followed by 6 sorbets, 2 non-dairy alternatives, 2 Italian ices, and 1 ice cream. Fifty percent were vegan flavors.
Last summer, we found 29 new flavors. Fifty-eight percent were fruit flavors and 52% were vegan. There were fewer new summer flavors this year because of the fewer new flavors introduced outside of the US. Also, we noticed that fall, back-to-school flavors were introduced earlier this year.
Menchie’s had the most new flavors, just as they did last summer, with six. TCBY and 16 Handles both introduced four new summer flavors. Orange Leaf and Red Mango chose to bring back existing flavors and pair them with new toppings.
Perhaps no flavor captured the summer of 2023 than the one for summer’s biggest movie, Barbie. Pinkberry’s Barbie Land Berry Pink froyo was a big hit!
