Frozen Yogurt on Cruise Ships

Did you know that frozen yogurt has become so ubiquitous that it’s now found aboard most cruise ships? The frozen yogurt found on cruise ships is typically (1) self-serve and (2) available 24 hours a day with 1 or two flavors (chocolate and vanilla). When there are two soft serve machines, one is usually reserved for frozen yogurt; the other is for chocolate and vanilla ice cream. You’ll often find the frozen yogurt machines next to the pool area or in the buffet area.

All Carnival Cruise Lines ships have Swirls, with free self-serve frozen yogurt 24 hours a day. Swirls offers vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry frozen yogurt. Carnival Triumph was recently given a makeover and renamed Carnival Sunrise. The makeover included an expansion of Swirls.

Frozen yogurt has been spotted on the following ships:

  • Crystal Cruises (Symphony, Serenity, Harmony)
  • Royal Caribbean (Jewel of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas)
  • Princess Cruises (Eastern Caribbean)
  • Disney (Dream, Magic)
  • Celebrity Solstice
  • Azamara Club Cruises
  • Norwegian Getaway

The Disney Magic cruise is famous for the frozen yogurt Romanoff sundae. It’s made with vanilla frozen yogurt topped with fresh strawberries marinated in Cointreau and chopped pistachios.

Remember when Menchie’s had the Sweet Summer Getaway Sweepstakes? The prize was a 7 Day Eastern Caribbean Princess Cruise for four. We have to wonder whether Menchie’s frozen yogurt was served on board during that cruise.

Judging from the number of online posts about frozen yogurt on cruise ships, it’s a popular feature. People love the frozen yogurt but they want toppings too. Apparently, many of the cruise ships that have frozen yogurt don’t offer toppings!
