We’re often asked by froyo shops for new simple new menú ideas. Here’s one that’s currently a hot new food trend on TikTok: ice cream nachos. Ice cream nachos are usually made with waffle chips, ice cream (usually soft serve), toppings, and sauce drizzle on top or on the side. If your shop already has a waffle iron, creating froyo or ice cream nachos would be super easy and wouldn’t require any ingredients you don’t already have on hand. And you could easily make froyo tacos too.

If you don’t make waffle cones or waffle bowls, some suppliers sell waffle cone chips. you can substitute broken waffle cones that you’ve purchased or use packaged cookies like Trader Joe’s Belgian Butter Waffle Cookies or stroopwafels.

There was a significant spike in the number of searches for ice cream nachos on Google in late April – early May of this year. According to Google Trends, in the US, the top related searches for ice cream nachos were ice cream near me and ice cream nachos near me. Interest was highest in Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky and the top related queries were “ice cream near me” and “ice cream nachos near me.” On TikTok, #icecreamnachos has 27.5 million views.

People like how they can customize their ice cream/froyo nachos, so let them pick the froyo, toppings, and sauces. You’ll probably want to buy some takeout containers that are better suited for nachos. Some shops are opting for takeout containers with a sauce compartment. You can also put the sauce in a small cup.

Shout out to OMG Bus for offering froyo nachos way back in 2016. OMG Bus started in Rocklin, California but now serves the Phoenix area. Froyo nachos have also been spotted at Cup N’ Spoon in Meadville, Pennsylvania, FroYo Nation in Grand Blanc, Michigan, The Pump House in Grand Haven, Michigan, Toppings in Big Rapids, Michigan, and The Yogurt Shoppe in Pendleton, Oregon.

Looking for more food trends? Cottage cheese ice cream is also trending on TikTok. We’ve also seen many videos of people making frozen yogurt bark and froyo clusters dipped in chocolate on Instagram recently.
