Happy National Frozen Yogurt Month! Every June, we like to recognize frozen yogurt shops for giving back. Thank you to every froyo shop that helped the community by hosting fundraisers, donating to worthy causes, sponsoring cause-related events, offering free or discounted froyo to law enforcement, healthcare workers, teachers, veterans, and more. We appreciate you!

Here are a few recent examples of froyo giving back.

  • 16 Handles (IG @16handles) participated in Still Here NYC Week in April 2022 to benefit Enders Project. Anyone who purchased a Still Here NYC t-shirt earned discounts at NYC businesses like 16 Handles. The campaign raised money for nutrition programming, training, campaign marketing, and scholarship money.
  • Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams (IG @jenisicecreams) brought back their Sunshine flavor for the month of May in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month 2022. Sunshine is made with cultured buttermilk and yogurt. It is frozen yogurt! Sunshine is described as tasting like “sunshine on a cloudy day.” It’s a muted grey color but tastes tropical – like “sun-kissed lemon and sweet-tart tangerine with radiant passion fruit.” A portion of the sales of Sunshine went to a non-profit, On Our Sleeves. On Our Sleeves mission is to raise awareness of and spark conversations about children’s mental health by providing free educational resources to families.
  • Menchie’s (IG @mymenchies) continued their Veterans Day promotion in 2021. Vets and active military were eligible for 6 free oz of froyo on Veterans Day.
  • Sweet Mutiny (IG @sweetmutinypullman) in Pullman, Washington partnered with Neill Public Library’s summer reading program for youth. The first 100 youth (birth to 17 years old) to register for the program received a frozen yogurt voucher from Sweet Mutiny.
  • sweetFrog (IG @sweetfrog) had special eGift card designs for Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week this year. Some sweetFrog locations offered nurses free froyo during National Nurses Week. Some locations also gave free froyo to teachers on Teacher Appreciation Week and free froyo to first responders during First Responders Appreciation Week.
  • Yasso (IG @yasso) asked people to nominate Game On! Heroes in their community. The winning heroes received a $1,000 grant from the Yasso Game On! Foundation to help promote health and wellness.
  • Yo-chi (IG @iloveyochi) in Australia made a donation to the UN Refugee Agency to help Ukrainian refugees. They also had special wafer disc toppings that said Make Yo-Chi Not War.
  • Yogurt Mill (IG @yogurtmillfroyo) in Central California offered nurses and teachers a special BOGO free offer on May 3, 2022 and they continue to donate froyo to teachers, nurses, first responders, and other local heroes.
  • Yogurtland’s #ShowYOHope spring campaign honored local heroes. Yogurtland fans were asked to nominate organizations or individuals of any size who help bring hope to others. The winners received free froyo deliveries. Yogurtland also delivered free froyo to nurses and teachers in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week in May.
