Froyo is a part of life, as these froyo appearances on TV shows illustrate. In some cases, froyo is an important part of the TV show. This is best exemplified by The Good Place. Froyo also makes a memorable appearance in other shows. Froyo has appeared mostly in comedies but also some dramas and animated shows.

We’ve gathered some of them. The shows are listed in alphabetical order with the show name, episode name, season number, episode number, and year. We’ve also provided a brief synopsis of each episode.

  • According to Jim, Ruby’s First Date, Season 7, Episode 6, 2008
    • Cheryl and Jim’s daughter, Ruby, has her first date and it’s with an older boy. The date takes place at a froyo shop. Her father follows her out of concern and dons a disguise, a penguin costume, to remain incognito.
  • All American, One of Them Nights, Season 2, Episode 9, 2020
    • A visit to the froyo shop was the central moment of the episode. Spencer and his friends take Spencer’s younger brother Dillon to a fictional froyo shop in Crenshaw. Dillon and Spencer get in an argument and the owner, a white woman dubbed Crenshaw Cathy, asks them to leave. They aren’t doing anything wrong, so they still want their froyo. The owner becomes frightened and calls the cops. The cops aren’t any more understanding than Crenshaw Cathy. One of them puts his hand on his gun. Poor Dillon is traumatized.
  • Arthur, Sue Ellen Vegges Out, Season 16, Episode 9, 2013
    • Froyo has appeared on many episodes of Arthur, the PBS animated kids show. In one episode, Sue Ellen decides to become vegetarian. This inspired Muffy to become vegetarian as well. Muffy and Francine both try vegetarianism and compete to be the best vegetarian. Francine eats froyo since it’s vegetarian.
  • B Positive, Juneau, Froyo & Ronald Reagan, Season 2, Episode 16, 2022
    • In B Positive, Gina buys Valley Hills, an assisted living facility, with the goal of improving the lives of the residents. Gina receives an offer to purchase Valley Hills from a swanky rival facility, Golden Horizons, in this episode. She is reluctant to sell although the offer is a generous one. Since she refused their offer, Golden Horizons decides to put Valley Hills out of business by cutting their prices to lure Valley Hills residents. Gina beats their discount and brings in a frozen yogurt machine.
  • Baskets, Sweat Equity, Season 3, Episode 5, 2018
    • The new boyfriend of Dale’s ex wife, Bill, owns a frozen yogurt machine vending machine called Frobot. Bill is interviewed on the local news about Frobot. Interestingly, the machine they feature was borrowed from the company, Frobot.
  • Breaking Bad, Crawl Space, Season 4, Episode 11, 2011
    • Hank is in a neck brace eating froyo at home. Skyler says, “Frozen yogurt tastes the same. Tastes exactly the same.” Junior is also eating froyo. You can see that the froyo cup says Olo Dessert Studio, an actual froyo shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Burn Notice, Mind Games, Season 5, Episode 3, 2011
    • Michael’s younger brother asks for help on behalf of a friend. His friend owns a froyo shop and is being extorted by a loan shark.
  • Community, Heroic Origins, Season 4, Episode 12, 2013
    • In Community, the fictional frozen yogurt shop, Yogurtsburgh, is located inside the Greendale Mall. In a flashback, The Study Group members are shown at the mall for frozen yogurt.
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm, Vow of Silence, Season 8, Episode 5, 2011
    • Susie and Jeff realize that Oscar, their dog, needs to be put down that day. As a final treat, she’d like him to have his favorite, coconut frozen yogurt from Pinkberry. Larry and Jeff get the yogurt and accidentally eat it on the car ride to the vet’s office. They lie to Susie, telling her Pinkberry was closed.
  • The Good Place, Season 1, 2016
    • Froyo appears many times in The Good Place, particularly in Season 1. Food and Wine magazine even wrote an article about it in 2017. In Season 1, the protagonist, Eleanor Shellstrop, finds herself in The Good Place (the afterlife). Everyone in The Good Place loves froyo and there are many froyo shops offering unlimited froyo flavors. Sounds like heaven, right? Eleanor believes she has been sent to The Good Place by mistake. The Funko Pop! Vinyl version of Eleanor features her holding a cup of froyo.
  • Gossip Girl, In The Realm of the Basses, Season 2, Episode 14, 2009
    • The mean girls of Constance Billard (school) gather at the Upper East Side Pinkberry, where they continue to bully poor Nelly. Jenny and Eric witness their appalling behavior. When Penelope drops a spoonful of froyo on her shoe and tells Nelly to clean it off, Jenny steps in.
  • The Kominsky Method, Chapter 14: A Secret Leaks, a Teacher Speaks, Season 2, Episode 6, 2019
    • Sandy’s agent Norman and Madelyn, are shown getting froyo at FROG in Hollywood, California. They’re on a date. FROG, a real froyo shop in Hollywood, also appeared in Season 2, Episode 4.
  • Maggie, You Will Help Someone Take a Chance, Season 1, Episode 9, 2022
    • Ben and Maggie, the psychic, discuss whether he has problems making decisions. She flips a coin and asks what he wants (he’s trying to choose a flavor of frozen yogurt).
  • The Mindy Project, Hiring and Firing, Season 1, Episode 2, 2012
    • Mindy meets a cute guy (Seth Meyers) at a bookstore. He buys her froyo (3 times) and she realizes she doesn’t like froyo. Needless to say, the relationship is doomed.
  • The OC, pilot episode, Season 1, 2003
    • After the fashion show fundraiser where miraculously there was no fistfight, Julie and Jimmy Cooper head home. Next door neighbors and exes, Jimmy and Kirsten are talking when they both take out the trash at the same time. Julie Cooper, clad in her Juicy Couture pink velour tracksuit, interrupts to ask, “Honey, did you get my froyo?” He forgot but offers to go back. She asks for pistachio. This was before the first Pinkberry opened. We’re guessing that she wanted Golden Spoon. Froyo shows up again in Season 3, Episode 5 when Marisa’s having lunch with her new friends at her new high school.
  • Pretty Little Liars, Pilot, Season 1, Episode 1, 2010
    • In this Halloween episode flashback, Aria and Alison are walking down the street after each getting some froyo. Mona wants to join them but Alison, the mean girl, wants to lose her. Aria sees her father in a car making out with one of his students. In a different episode, Spencer’s sister Melissa is seen eating froyo. And in another episode, Aria leaves Jake’s tournament to get froyo. IRL, the actress who portrayed Alison, Sasha Pieterse, opened an organic froyo shop in Valencia, California called Brew-Lé.
  • Project Runway, Cranky Kitsch, Season 12, Episode 3, 2013
    • The designers find themselves at Coney Island. The challenge is to hand out samples of Yoplait Frozen Yogurt, collect the words the taste testers use to describe the product, and create outfits based on the words.
  • Saved By The Bell: The New Class, Unequal Opportunity, Season 4, Episode 2, 1996
    • A fictional froyo shop appears in Season 4, episodes 2 and 3. Principal Belding and Screech are running Yukon Yogurt, but business is slow until Eric adds high fat hot fudge to the low-fat yogurt mix. In the next episode, Screech falls in love with a froyo customer and tells her he owns a chain of yogurt stores.
  • Seinfeld, The Non-Fat Yogurt, Season 5, Episode 7, 1993
    • In this memorable Seinfeld episode about froyo, Kramer invests in a popular non-fat frozen yogurt shop in NYC. When Jerry and Elaine gain weight, Elaine suspects the froyo is not non-fat, so she sends it to a laboratory for testing. The lab tests come back and the yogurt does contain fat. Business suffers and the shop starts serving real non-fat yogurt. The new yogurt is not as good.
  • The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horrors III: Clown Without Pity, Season 4, Episode 5, 1992
    • In this special Halloween episode, Lisa tells a story that is a parody of the Twilight Zone episode, Living Doll, and Child’s Play. Homer visits House of Evil to buy a gift for Bart’s birthday. House of Evil also sells frozen yogurt which they call frogurt. He buys a talking Krusty doll and gives it to Bart. The doll repeatedly tries to kill Homer.
  • This Is Us: Four Fathers, Season 6, Episode 3, 2022
    • Froyo is mentioned multiple times on This is Us. In Four Fathers, Toby is home from San Francisco for the weekend. Kate and Toby make a date to go to Kate’s recital and get froyo from Menchie’s. Toby winds up staying home to look after Jack while Kate goes to the recital by herself.
  • The Wilds: Day 50/33, Season 2, Episode 7, 2022
    • In Seth’s flashback, he and his mom are having froyo. She mentions Yogurtland and her swirling skills.
  • Wizards of Waverly Place, New Employee, Season 1, Episode 4
    • In order to get back at Frankie, Justin gets his students to scare Frankie and his friends in the frozen yogurt parlor that Harper has started working at. Harper has been working for only a few hours, but suddenly becomes Employee of the Month. Alex visits her at work and tries to apologize to her, but it doesn’t work out well. Alex uses another spell to reverse Harper’s waitressing skills, and everything goes back to normal.
  • Veep, Frozen Yoghurt, Season 1, Episode 2, 2012
    • Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Selina Meyer, the Vice President of the United States. Since Meyer has a free afternoon, she decides to spend time with normal people. Her staff decides to have her visit a yogurt store run by three generations of black businessmen. Meyer is hours late for the appearance because the President has a health scare. When she does show up, most people have left and the yogurt store owners are angry and insulting.
