Frozen yogurt shops are often small businesses with deep local roots. Their generosity strengthens communities, uplifts families, and reminds us that food businesses can be powerful forces for good.
Here are a few recent examples of froyo shops that give back.
Fifth & Emery: Books for Yo
Fifth & Emery in the Kansas City area started Books for Yo last summer, a reading program that rewarded local children with free froyo after ten sessions of reading for 30 minutes. To support the program, Fifth & Emery created printable bookmarks, reading calendars, and certificates.
Llaollao Malaysia: Share Joy
Llaollao Malaysia and Trip.com partnered to raise funds for Sambong Future Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides laptops to underprivileged children. Customers who donated to Sambong Future Foundation received extra entries for a trip to Spain.
Marcel’s: The Dreamer’s Swirl
Marcel’s partnered with the Reach For A Dream Foundation, creating a new flavor called The Dreamer’s Swirl, a berry & cream frozen yogurt with chocolate-coated balls. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Reach For A Dream, to help the organization grant wishes to children facing life-threatening illnesses. The tubs were sold at Marcel’s outlets and Pick n Pay stores in South Africa.
Yo-Chi: Bear Hugs
All proceeds from the sale of Yo-Chi’s bear plushies were donated to Caepim, a community organization that helps local communities in the Amazon (specifically the Lower Tocantins region of Pará, Brazil), where Yo-Chi sources its acai. The plushies came in two designs and were priced at $17 each. Both designs featured a bear holding a cup of acai. Supporting Caepim aligns with Yo-Chi’s sustainability practices. The bears sold out.
Yo-Chi: Change for Change
Yo-Chi installed donation boxes at their venues throughout Australia to collect change for local environmental or community-focused organizations. Yo-Chi matches the donations dollar for dollar. In 12 months, Yo-Chi raised $39.700 for these organizations.
Yogurtland Cares: Inner City Initiative
Yogurtland created its own non-profit, Yogurtland Cares. Yogurtland Cares is currently accepting donations for the Inner City Initiative to help purchase and distribute school supplies, technology devices, and more to underprivileged youth. Donations can be made on the Yogurtland Cares website.
Yotopia: Dine Out for Education Day
Yotopia joined 55 local restaurants in Iowa City, Iowa, to donate 10% of sales on April 16, Dine Out for Education Day. The proceeds were donated to the Foundation for the Iowa City Community School District. This is an annual event. Yotopia has been a Dine Out Partner for over 5 years.
Yotopia: Froyo for Food Access
To combat the SNAP funding cuts, Yotopia helped local families by donating $1 of every pint of froyo sold in November 2025 to the United Way Food Access Fund. The Johnson County Food Access Network provided over 5 million pounds of food to over 16,000 people in 2024, working with local food pantries and meal sites. The United Way helped coordinate the community response to this food emergency.
Zoyo: Round It Up for a Cause
Zoyo Neighborhood Yogurt launched the Round It Up for a Cause campaign in March 2026. Zoyo customers had the option to round up their change at the register to support the Children’s Hospital. The Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund uses these funds where they are most needed, for example, to purchase new equipment or for research and clinical trials. Zoyo has locations throughout Arizona.
Zoyo: 110 Days of Summer
Zoyo also brought back the 110 Days of Summer, a charity initiative organized by ABC 15 Arizona. Last September, Zoyo donated $10,000 to Make-A-Wish Arizona. For every day that the temperature in Phoenix, Arizona, reached 110°F or higher, Zoyo donated $110 to Make-A-Wish Arizona. Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children with critical illnesses.
