Froyo Flavor Trends of 2014

flavor quest2014 was another big year for new froyo flavors and we were busy keeping track of them. Several flavor trends emerged:
  • International flavors
    • Yogurtland brought back its Annual Flavor Quest. The 2nd Annual Flavor Quest featured new internationally inspired flavors including Maple Cookie, Passionfruit Sorbet, Coconut Mango Tart, Macadamia Nut Toffee, Orange Citrus Sorbet, Geneva Chocolate, Flan, Black Currant Berry Tart, Vanilla Date Shake, Guava Sorbet
    • TCBY World of Fro-yo: Black Sesame, Taro, German Lebkuchen
    • Forever Yogurt India: Gulab Jamun
    • Wakaberry South Africa Heritage Day: Custard, Hot Cross Bun
    • South Koreans went crazy for fresh milk flavored soft serve  (ice cream and froyo) topped with fresh honeycomb. Similar shops have been spotted in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Los Angeles.
  • Mocktails
    • Yogurtland Ultimate Summer featured several mocktail flavors, a first for Yogurtland: Cosmo Sorbet, Mojito Sorbet, Lava Flow, Mudslide, Strawberry Margarita Sorbet
    • Yogen Fruz: Summer coolers: Pina Colada, Strawberry Daiquiri Sorbet, Classic Mojito Sorbet
  • Collaborative flavors (cookie and candy flavors were the most popular)
    • TCBY and Mrs. Fields – cookies added to froyo “The Sweetest Pair” chocolate chip cookie froyo was born
    • TCBY Angry Birds: Chuck’s Bananabird sorbet, The Blues Ca-Caw Cotton Candy
    • TCBY and Silk: Almond Nog
    • Menchie’s Girl Scouts Caramel Coconut Cookie Craze
    • Hershey’s York Peppermint Pattie
    • Menchie’s Heath flavored Chocolate Glazed Toffee Bar
    • Menchie’s and Oreos: Just the Cookie and Just the Crème from Menchie’s
    • Orange Leaf and Hershey’s York Peppermint Pattie
    • Orange Leaf Ghiradelli Chocolate
  • Dairy free almond and soy flavors
    • 16 Handles Yo Soy Vanilla
    • 16 Handles Coco Loco (coconut water sorbet)
    • TCBY’s Vanilla Silk, Coconut Silk, Almond Nog
    • Tutti Frutti’s Soy Strawberry
  • Blue froyo
    • Sweet Frog blue cotton candy
    • TCBY’s The Blues Ca-caw Cotton Candy
    • Yogurtland’s Rocket Pop sorbet was light blue, a color that was achieved without artificial coloring
  • Coffee, cinnamon and banana
    • Menchie’s Going Bananas
    • Menchie’s Cinnayumm Bun
    • Menchie’s Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll
    • Orange Leaf’s Pumpkin Spice Latte
    • Orange Leaf’s Cinnamon Roll
