History of Froyo & Current State of Froyo

Frozen yogurt has had limited success in Poland. The first frozen yogurt shops in Poland opened in 2012. With so many froyo shops opening in 2012 (e.g., Feel the Chill, LoveYo, RedBerry, White Cherry, Yogen Fruz), it’s difficult to say which was the first. The first shop was either in Warsaw or Krakow.

Since then, a variety of frozen yogurt shops have opened, including international chains (e.g., Tutti Frutti, Yogen Fruz), self-serve shops, and counter-serve shops. Shop names like RedBerry and White Cherry sound inspired by Red Mango and Pinkberry, while Yogoland sounds similar to Yogurtland.

With the lack of reviews and lack of social media use, it’s difficult to know when many of the froyo shops opened or closed, but it seems that many shops were only open for a year or two. No frozen yogurt brand has had more than four branches in Poland.

We believe there are only six froyo shops left and not one froyo shop in Warsaw. This is surprising for Warsaw, the capital city of Poland and a major hub of economic, political, and cultural, and hub. Four of the five surviving froyo shops in Poland are mall-based and self-serve. Feel the Chill is the oldest surviving froyo shop. The location in Krakow opened in 2012. We found twenty closed froyo shops.

Poland has over 40 million inhabitants. Its GDP of over 654 billion euros is the eighth highest in Europe and first among Central and Eastern European countries. The largest cities by population are the capital city of Warsaw (1,753,977), Krakow (765,320), Łódź (696,503), Wroclaw (637,683), and Poznań (540,372).

Current Froyo Shops

  • Feel the Chill, Podgórska 34, 31-536 Kraków can be found at Galeria Kazimierz,. The self-serve froyo shop first opened in 2012 and had two other locations that have since closed.
  • Summer Taste, Sucha 1, 50-086 Wrocław, is a counter-serve froyo, smoothie bowls, savory bowls, and juice shop inside a shopping mall that opened in 2020.
  • Summer Taste, Legnicka 58, 54-206 Wrocław, is marked as temporarily closed on Google but was recently reviewed. It may have taken over the RedBerry space.
  • Yogoland, Świętojańska 15 ( Galeria Alfa Poziom +2), Białystok is a self-serve froyo concept that also serves juices. This mall-based location opened in 2014. Yogoland also opened branches in Lithuania.
  • Yogoland, Gorzow Galeria Jurowiecka Jurowiecka 1, 15-101, Białystok is another branch of the self-serve froyo concept.
  • Yogoland, Pleszewska 1, 61-139 Poznań, Poland may have opened in 2021. It is also mall-based and self-serve.

Closed Froyo Shops

  • Feel the Chill, Złota 59, 00-120 Warszaw, was a self-serve froyo shop that opened in 2012.
  • Feel the Chill, Plac Grunwaldzki 22 50-370 Wrocław, brought self-serve froyo to Wroclaw in 2016.
  • Green Cup, ul. Nowy Świat 52 Warsaw, was open in 2013.
  • LoveYo, CH Galeria Krakowska ul. Pawia 5/31-154 Kraków, was open in 2012. It was counter-serve.
  • Mrożony Jogurt, Francuska 30, Warsaw, was a froyo shop that was open in 2012. Mrożony Jogurt is Polish for frozen yogurt.
  • RedBerry, Złota 59, 00-120 Warszaw, seems to have closed in 2021. It was counter-serve and also served fresh juices.
  • RedBerry, Złote Tarasy ul. Złota 59 00-120 Warsaw, opened in 2018.
  • RedBerry, CH Blue city Al. Jerozolimskie 179 p. 1 02-222 Warsaw, seems to have opened in 2012 and closed in 2022.
  • RedBerry, Galeria Krakowska ul. Pawia 5 31-154 Kraków, was open in 2016.
  • RedBerry, Legnicka 58 54-204, Wroclaw, was open in 2016 inside a mall.
  • Tutti Frutti, ul. Gen. J. Zajaczka 9A / C9 01-518 Warsaw, was open in 2015 – 2017 and was self-serve.
  • Tutti Frutti, ul. Rydygiera 13/U9 01-793 Warsaw
  • Tutti Frutti had a self-serve froyo truck in 2017
  • White Cherry, Puławska 11 02-001 Warsaw, may have opened in 2012. It was a takeout window with one froyo flavor, natural, and toppings.
  • White Cherry, ul. Ostrobramska 75c CH Promenada 04-175 Warsaw, may have opened in 2012
  • Yogen Fruz, Górczewska 124 01-460 Warsaw, had a counter-serve branch in Warsaw in 2012.
  • Yogen Fruz, Galeria Warmińska, Olsztyn was open from 2016 – 2019.
  • Yogen Fruz, Jana Jerzego Haffnera 6, 81-767, Sopot, may have been open from 2013 – 2014
  • Yogo Choice, CH Galeria Mokotów ul. Wołoska 12 02-675 Warsaw, was a self-serve froyo shop in a shopping mall that was open from 2015 – 2018. It also offered a mix-in style yogurt where you choose the fruit and it is blended with the froyo.
  • Yogoland, Generała Józefa Dwernickiego 15 16-400 Suwałki, opened in 2015. The last Facebook post was in 2018. It was part of the Yogoland self-serve froyo franchise.
