Bolivia hasn’t had many froyo shops but Yogen Fruz did enter the market early and is still the largest player. Yogen Fruz, the Canadian franchise, has 15 branches in Bolivia. It looks like the few froyo shops that opened in Bolivia have closed, except for Llaollao, Yogen Fruz, Yogurteria, and Freschezza. Most of the froyo shops that closed were in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, local concepts, and counter-serve. We believe that there are currently 19 froyo shops in Bolivia.
Bolivia had a population of 12.5 million in 2023. The largest cities are Santa Cruz de la Sierra (1.36 million), Cochabamba (900,414), and La Paz (812,799). Bolivia ranks #97 in terms of GDP in the world in 2024, but the economy is considered “repressed” and the banking sector health is at risk. Foreign reserves are very low.
