Frozen Yogurt Shops Give Back to Charities

It’s National Frozen Yogurt Month and the IFYA wanted to take the time to recognize the frozen yogurt industry for its contributions to charities and worthy causes. We know that frozen yogurt shops large and small have given back to their communities, by sponsoring kid’s sports teams, holding school fundraisers, etc. We applaud everyone in the frozen yogurt industry that has given back to others.

Recent examples of giving back include:

16 Handles Wappinger Falls dedicated their grand opening to Miles of Hope Breast Cancer foundation, donating 16% of proceeds from their grand opening to Miles of Hope.

Menchie’s sponsored LA Heart Walk 2015 and their mascot, Menchie, participated in the walk on April 1, 2015.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt has been supporting Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry for three years. In 2015, Orange Leaf organized an online fundraiser along with in-store promotions including limited edition cups with a portion of the proceeds going to No Kid Hungry, charity pin-ups and limited edition t-shirts. Last year, Orange Leaf customers raised $132,911 for No Kid Hungry.

Pinkberry New England partnered with executive pastry chef and co-owner of Flour Bakery, Joanne Chang, to create a flavor inspired by her world famous sticky buns for  the Celebrity Swirl campaign. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of Pinkberry’s Joanne Chang’s Sticky Bun flavor went to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. The flavor was available in December 2015.

sweetFrog partnered with March of Dimes this year and last for the Bananas for Babies campaign. This past April sweetFrog guests who donated $1 to March of Dimes received a BOGO coupon. Guests could also buy a limited edition Bananas for Babies Scoop plush toy. In 2015, sweetFrog raised $36,000 for March of Dimes. In January 2016, sweetFrog partnered with the American Cancer Society, with the birthday celebration for its mascot, Cookie, benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Yogurtland has been fighting human trafficking by donating to organizations that rescue and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking. When Yogurtland Campus Pointe held its grand opening celebration on April 9, 2016 in Fresno, CA, 20% of the day’s proceeds went to the Valley Children’s Hospital.
