Froyo Gives Back to the Community, 2019 Edition

Happy National Frozen Yogurt Month 2019! Every June we like to take the time to recognize frozen yogurt shops who are making the extra effort to make the world a better place. We applaud frozen yogurt shops that have helped raise funds and donations for worthy causes, sponsored non-profit cause related events, offered free or discounted froyo to law enforcement, teachers, nurses, etc.

Recent Examples of Giving Back

Di’lishi has a creative way to involve the community in their philanthropic efforts. All Di’lishi Frozen Yogurt locations have a community giveback wall. Once a quarter, Di’lishi locations choose three local charities to feature. Customers vote for the charity they’d like Di’lishi to donate to with their voting spoons. At the end of the quarter, the charity with the most voting spoons receives the highest donation.

In 2018, Yogen Fruz Pinkberry was the title sponsor for an outdoor Canadian art exhibit that raised awareness and funds for brain health. Artists, celebrities, and thought leaders designed brain sculptures that were on display around Toronto.  Funds raised were donated to the Baycrest Foundation. Yogen Fruz and Baycrest Foundation announced that they are partnering on the Brain Project in 2019 as well.

Pinkberry Nigeria set a goal of giving 1,000 Nigerian children a quality education in 2019. Every time someone purchases a bubble waffle during the promotion, an automatic donation is made to the cause.

Last fall, sweetfrog hosted Adopt-A-School donation drives to help local schools. During the drives, each sweetFrog location selected one local school and encouraged customers to donate school supplies to that school at the shop. Those who donated received 20% off their yogurt purchase. In December 2018, sweetFrog hosted Deck the Halls fundraisers. Local sweetFrog owners donated a portion of sales during the Deck the Halls fundraisers for the community organizations of their choice.

Both Orange Leaf and Menchie’s provided veterans and active military with free frozen yogurt on Veterans Day. Orange Leaf also partnered with VetFran to offer veterans 15% off the initial franchise fee.
