Franchisee Trade Associations
First, there are several franchisee associations and these associations have websites that are filled with resources for potential franchisees. This is a good place to begin your journey. Some of the larger franchises like Burger King, Denny’s, Domino’s Pizza, Midas, McDonalds, Subway, and Wendy’s have their own franchisee associations. Some franchisee associations are regional.
American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD): “The AAFD seeks to serve the franchising community, promote that which is good and healthy, and excise that which is exploitative and unscrupulous. Although only in its fifth year of existence, the AAFD has seen a remarkable shift in the currents in the franchising community. We welcome your support and assistance in our goal of “Bringing Fairness to Franchising!” The website has plenty of tools and resources though most require an associate AAFD membership for access.
American Franchisee Association (AFA): “The American Franchisee Association (AFA) is a national trade association of franchisees and dealers founded in February 1993. The AFA works to improve the industry of franchising while protecting its members’ economic investments in their businesses. The AFA advocates for and provides testimony in favor of changing the rules and laws that govern franchising on both the state and federal level.”
International Franchise Association (IFA): “Celebrating 50 years of excellence, education and advocacy, the International Franchise Association is the world’s oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide. IFA’s mission is to protect, enhance and promote franchising through government relations, public relations and educational programs.” You can search for franchise opportunities, events, documents, publications, research reports, international franchise associations and more.
