Argosy Foodservice Ceases Operations

argosyIf you’ve been trying to reach Argosy Foodservice recently, you’ve noticed that they haven’t been returning phone calls. Back in early January their phone number still worked and the websites were up. That’s changed; the phone number no longer works and both websites, argosyfoodservice.com and argosyintl.com are down. LinkedIn lists Argosy’s profile as inactive. Argosy Foodservice has ceased operations and gone out of business.

Argosy Foodservice was based in Orlando, FL and it was a foodservice equipment manufacturer of machines for frozen desserts (including frozen yogurt), ice vending and beverages.

Brief timeline of events:

May 2014: Argosy completed the acquisition of Donper America. Donper America assembled and distributed Donper soft serve equipment in the US and it also operated Frozen Yogurt Solutions, a consulting service for frozen yogurt shops. Argosy introduced the new 8000i series soft serve machines at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show; these were not Donper machines but they were manufactured by Argosy in the US.

May 2015: Argosy Foodservice exhibited at the NRA Show

Multiple rounds of layoffs followed. The last tweet was published on December 28, 2015 and the last blog post on September 30, 2015. The last press release on August 18, 2015 described the partnership with Ascentium Capital to help customers finance equipment purchases.

If you’re looking for Donper parts, you can still find them at Frozen Yogurt Parts, Heritage Parts, Dave Swain Associates, and Donper USA.

Donper USA, which has no relation to Donper America, is the exclusive distributor of Donper equipment in North America. It is still in business.

If you’re looking for advice, the company that you choose to buy your soft serve machines from should be able to help with getting your business up and running. If you haven’t decided on which machines to purchase or purchase used machines, ask your mix provider or check our Supplier Directory for frozen yogurt consultants.

Update: After this post was published, an article appeared in the Orlando Business Journal about Argosy’s closure.
