Find Out Which Frozen Yogurt Chains are the Largest in IFYA’s Chain Store Count

Every August, the IFYA will provide an update the size (as measured by number of store locations) of the largest frozen yogurt chains. The store counts are based on what’s listed on the chain’s website when available. Stores are constantly closing and opening so keep in mind that store counts are approximate.

IFYA’s list of the largest frozen yogurt chains:

1. YOGEN FRUZ: 1400 locations

Canadian company Yogen Fruz has over 1400 stores in 46 countries. International Franchise Corp. owns both Yogen Fruz and Canadian self-serve chain, Yogurty’s.

2. TUTTI FRUTTI FROZEN YOGURT: 660 locations

Tutti Frutti is a truly international chain with shops in Asia, Australia, North America, Europe, Middle East, etc. The Tutti Frutti Canadian website states that they have over 660 locations.

3. RED MANGO: 471 locations

Red Mango just opened its 250 location in the Michigan this August but we think this number doesn’t include Red Mango International. The locations in the Middle East, Asia and Australia aren’t listed on the Red Mango USA website but are listed on the Red Mango International website. In August 2012, Red Mango had 182 locations in the US.

4. TCBY: 400 locations

TCBY (The Country’s Best Yogurt) has over 400 franchise locations systemwide. About 350 of these locations are in the US.

5. MENCHIE’S FROZEN YOGURT: 330 locations

Back in April 2013, Menchie’s celebrated the opening of its 300th location in Houston, TX. They’ve been opening new locations at a rate of five openings per month since 2008. You’ll find the most Menchie’s locations in California and Florida (41 locations in each of those two states). Most locations are in the US and Canada. Menchie’s had 199 US locations in August 2012.

6. ORANGE LEAF FROZEN YOGURT: 287 locations

This Oklahoma based, self-serve frozen yogurt chain topped Technomic’s 2011 list of Fastest Growing Limited Service Chains < $200 million. Most Orange Leaf locations are in the US. Last August, Orange Leaf had 190 US locations.

7. SWEET FROG: 281 locations

Sweet Frog is a self-serve frozen yogurt chain that opened its first location in Virginia in 2009. They have 86 locations in Virginia alone. Their website listed only US locations.

8. YOGURTLAND: 240 locations

Yogurtland reached the 200 store milestone in November 2012. Most locations are in the US. They had 181 locations in the US in August 2012.

9. PINKBERRY: 235 locations

Pinkberry has 152 locations in the US (vs. 139 in August 2012) and 83 locations outside the US. It entered the Indian market this summer. With Pinkberry Greek on the menu, Pinkberry is now positioned as a handcrafted yogurt bar.

10. YOGORINO: 178 locations

Italian chain Yogorino offers just one flavor of premium frozen yogurt which they call the best tasting yogurt in the world. It currently has 116 locations in Italy and 62 locations outside of Italy.

11. LLAOLLAO: 115 locations

Spanish chain Llaollao opened its first location in 2009 and has been expanding rapidly. It grew to 100 locations in the first two years. Most of its locations are in Spain.
